About IQAC

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College is constituted for ensuring quality sustenance and enhancement as a continuous process. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for the conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of the institution. IQAC consists of representatives of all the stakeholders - parents, staff, students and management. The IQAC channels the efforts and measures towards the academic excellence of the Institution and assures its stakeholders the accountability of the Institution for its own quality. Besides this, it also disseminates information regarding the quality bench marks and parameters of higher education through organizing seminars and workshops. IQAC undertakes responsibility for the systematic documentation of various activities of the college and preparation of Annual Quality Assurance Report to be submitted to the NAAC.

An effective feedback system envisaged by IQAC facilitates policy making process in accordance with the changing scenario thereby ensuring the quality maintenance of the Institution.

IQAC is constituted under the Chairmanship of the Head of the institution with heads of important academic and administrative units and a few teachers and a few distinguished educationists and representatives of local management and stakeholders

The IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) of St. Mary’s College was established on 15 February 2005 after the accreditation of the college by NAAC with B+ grade in 2004, with the goal of attaining A grade in the re-accreditation of the institution. Since then it has been striving not only to sustain the existing quality of this prestigious institution which has always given priority to excellence but also to improve the quality of the institution in every sphere of its activity. In the re-accreditation of the college by NAAC in 2010 the College has achieved A grade and in 2015 the College fulfilled its goal of achieving A grade with 3.3 points.

IQAC Activities 2018-19

  • Introduction regarding courses, initiatives of college, infrastructure etc were introduced to I DC students and their parents by IQAC Coordinator, Dr .Julie P Lazar.
  • A Session on good parenting was given by Fr. Julies Arakkel, Asst Director, Amala Medical College, Thrissur to parents of I DC students
  • A Session on Cyber crime was given by Sri O.A Babu, SI of Police, Office of City Police Commissioner, Thrissur
  • A one day Orientation class on Personality development for students were given by Dr. Joselet Mathew, Former Principal of Nirmalagiri College, Kannur, Former Vice President of The Principals Council Kerala, Master Trainer in Human Resource Development
  • Organised Marian Monsoon Fest
  • Orientation class about Life Skills was delivered by Rev Fr Raju Akkara, Psychologist for Students.
  • An Interactive Session was arranged on Ethics in Teaching by Col H Padmanabhan, Commander 7 Kerala Girls Battalion
  • One day session on Personality Development was given by Rev Fr. Raju Akkara, Psychologist for the Faculty
  • A session on Be an effective Teacher by Mr.Zakaria M V, Retired Asst.Registrar and PRO, University of Calicut was arranged
  • Organised One day session on Counselling Psychology by Dr. Sr. Dalmatia Panikulam CMC. Faculty, ‘Innervision’, Centre for Counseling and Psychotherapy, Former Director Santhidham Institute of Psychology
  • A talk on Projects and Publications by Sri Lims Thomas, Assistant Prof, Dept of Social Work, Vimala College, Thrissur was arranged
  • Orientation was given on Clubs and Forums to I DC students
  • Orientation class was given to I DC on various Skill Enhancement Programmes
  • Orientation on Open courses were given to III DC students
