STREET PLAY ON CANCER DAY
On February 4th, cancer day, socialwork students of St.Mary's College had played a streetplay on cancer awareness. Amala Hospital and the Muncipal bus stand stand of Thrissur were the venues. the students were supported by the members of KESS.
STREET PLAY ON ALZHEIMERS DAY
September 22nd world alzheimers day, on this day inorder to spread awareness in the campus the students of socialwork department performed streetplay in the college courtyard. most of the students were able to be aware on that subject. a small notice containing what alzheimers is were distributed among the audience finally.
International car free day is celebrated on September 22nd of every year in which people are encouraged to walk or to use public transport instead of using cars. Livable citys India, ESAF, Health bridge foundation and NATPAC had organised an event in Thrissur to remind our public about this. the social work students of St.Mary's college had attended the programme and joined their hands in making the event a massive success.
In collaboration with law college department of social work organised a workshop on Child right Advocacy. the workshop was inaugurated by MR. P.O George Chairman child welfare committe. members of juvenile justice board and public prosecutors were present in the Diaz. Each one had presentation. the students got an idea about child rights,system called JJB,CWC and their activities. it was a strong group. the students got chance to clarify their doubts and clarify their biases in the matter.
The department of social work organised a class about cancer on 21, january 2015.Sr. Molly parokaran project coordinator Chavara Cancer Care for children (Kuriakose Elias service society)took class on cancer .KESS undertakes intensive community mobilisation to empower community through social conscientiasation ,life skills and appropriate livelihood systems. the students interestingly listened the class as it was on the subject cancer which is a familiar word.she also educated the students vision and mission of the particular project.
- STREET PLAY ON AIDS DAY
- The word AIDS is familiar among all the people .DEC 1 ,World AIDS day,on this day inorder to spread awareness. students of social work department had performed a street play on the premises in the college.the excellent performance took the attention of the whole college. the play conveyed what AIDS is and its causes and symptoms. the play focused on the feeling of the patient living in the society .their pathetic condition was conveyed to all through the fantastic performance. the whole college had supported the students to make the play a wonderfull one.
- CLEANING DRIVE AT CHILDRENS HOME
Department of social work went for a cleaning drive at children's home Ramavarmapuram on 13 OCT ,2014 .Mr .Sharaphuddin superintent ,Childrens Home welcomed all and he explained about the children who are the inmates of the home and their intake procedures.after the introductory talk students and teachers started cleaning the ground.we felt grateful that the children got a clean ground for playing after the cleaning.

National seminar on Learning Disability
In collaboration with Manasika Academy of Psychological studies Department of Social work was conducted a One Day National Seminar on Learning Disability on 13-08-2015,by Rtn.Prof..Vedhagiri Ganesahan HoD , Department of Psychology Bharathiyar University, Coimbathore. Participants include counsellors ,Psychologists,Academicians.
Observation of Important days
- In connection with Youth Day on 12-08-2015 conducted a Essay writing competition on the topic Participation of Youth on Public and Politial Life .
- In collaboration with Social Justice Department Thrissur, Alzhimers Day was observerd on 26-09-2015.The students participated in the rally which was inaugrated by Ass. Commisssioner Thrissur. Classon Alzhimers was taken by Dr. Subhramaniyan,Psychiatrist, Mental Healtth Centre Thrissur, and by Dr,Fiju Neurologist , Jubilee Mission Hospital Thrissur.
- Old Age Day was observed on 01-10-2015 at Old Age Home Thrissur .Five of our students participated in the programme with Social Justice Department Thrissur .
- In collaboration with ESAF Mannuthy ,we celebrated Car Free Day on 4-10-2015.Our students participated in Street Play and Collage
As part of Curriculam activities a Rural Camp was done at Gavi- Nilakkal Panchayath.Interaction with Tribals was most attractive part on it. Students visited different tribal communities in Nilakkal Panchayath.The students able to understood the life style,occupation,health conditions ,food habits and mode of education of the tribals.
District Inauguration programme on Our Responsibility to Children
Our responsibity to children (ORC) is a project of Thrissur City Police in collaboration with civil socity.Students of Social work Department volunteered the programme .Documentation was also done by them.

Department of Social Work in association with KAPS (Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers) conducted Second Kerala Social Work Students’ meet held on 10th December 2016. About 400 students from 24 colleges in Kerala were participated in the congress.
Conducted Balamela at Kolazhy panchayath
As part of Child Friendly Panchayath Project at Kolazhy, Department of Social Work conducted Balamela in Kolazhy Grama Panchayat on 28.01.2017.About 100 children from all anganwadis in kolazhy Grama panchayat participated and performed their talents in cultural programmes like fancy dress, action song and group dance etc.
