The Department of Social Work, St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, in collaboration with JIB Career Academy, Thrissur, organized an Interactive Session on Career Counselling on 25th November 2025 at the Carmel Block.

The session aimed to guide students in making informed career choices and understanding emerging career opportunities. The programme featured expert talks by Mr. Raneesh Rahman, Vice President of JIB Career Academy, and Ms. Raysa P S, Chief Instructor and Career Counsellor, who shared valuable insights on career planning, skill development, and professional growth.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Sr. Meena K Cheruvathur, Principal, St. Mary’s College. Mr. Joshi Kurian C, Head of the Department of Social Work, and Mrs. Agna Tenny, Faculty Coordinator, coordinated the event. The interactive nature of the session encouraged active student participation and helped clarify career-related concerns, making it a highly beneficial experience for the attendees.

The Department of Management Studies of St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, successfully organized B-Quiz 2025 – Clash of Titans, presented by SMA Nexus. The prestigious quiz competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across institutions and was conducted in multiple stages, including the first round, semi-final, and the grand finale held on 16 December 2025.

The grand finale was hosted in a vibrant academic atmosphere and was expertly conducted by Mr. Nirmal Abraham, Television Analyst, Professor, and Dean, who served as the Quiz Master. The event concluded with a valedictory function graced by distinguished guests, including Mr. Amithraman, Co-Founder and CEO of Inker Robotics; Dr. Nowshaja P T, Director of TMA Student Chapters; and Mr. Hameed Kalabavan, renowned Mimicry Artist.

St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, celebrated Christmas with great joy and festive spirit through “Santa’s Fiesta”, organised on 23 December 2025 on the college campus The Christmas message was delivered by the Chief Guest, Fr. Julius Arakkal CMI, Director, Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, who shared inspiring thoughts on the values of love, compassion, and togetherness. The programme featured carol songs, Santa’s entry, cake cutting, cultural performances, and prize distribution. A special dance performance by Team Apsara, winners of the Santa Fiesta Dance Competition, added colour and enthusiasm to the celebration.

St. Mary’s College (Autonomous), Thrissur, successfully hosted Kalaaya 2025, the Fine Arts Festival of the institution, celebrating creativity, culture, and artistic expression among students. The inaugural ceremony of the festival was held on 17 December 2025, with popular actor Shane Nigam attending as the Chief Guest.

Organised by the College Union EVAARA, the festival featured a vibrant display of student talent through a wide range of fine arts competitions and cultural programmes. Kalaaya 2025 served as a dynamic platform for students to showcase their artistic skills and reinforced the institution’s commitment to promoting cultural excellence on campus.

The Department of Social Work at St. Mary's College (Autonomous), Thrissur, successfully conducted a two-day Creative Theatre Workshop titled "OPEN FRAME."

The enriching workshop took place on September 19 and 20, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM on both days.

Praveen Narayan, Director of PLAY PATIO, served as the Workshop Guide, leading participants through various creative and theatrical exercises. The event provided a platform for participants to explore new dimensions of expression and performance.

The initiative was a collaborative effort, organized with support from Rotary Club Thrissur and Rotaract, and was held in association with PLAY PATIO Theatre. The workshop concluded successfully, contributing to the college's cultural and academic engagement activities.

The event commenced at 9:00 AM and featured Dr. Smijo Sebastian, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Rajagiri College of Management and Applied Sciences, Kakkanad, as the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Smijo led an insightful session on “Research Methodology”, where he shared valuable perspectives on the fundamentals of research, data analysis, and ethical approaches to academic inquiry. The interactive session helped students gain a deeper understanding of research processes and their applications in social work practice.

The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Sr. Meena K. Cheruvathur, Principal of the College, and was coordinated by Mr. Joshi Kurian C, Head of the Department, and Ms. Hyma K. M, Faculty Coordinator
